At 6:42 a.m., Friday morning, the Nevada Fire Department responded to a report of a possible residential structure fire at 402 S. Pine St. Upon arrival, firefighters found the structure to be 25 percent involved, with flames coming out of the front of the house. The Nevada Fire Department immediately performed a primary search of the house and extinguished the fire. However, the overhaul took longer than expected due to the house being used for storage and the extent of the fire. Mutual aid was requested from Milo, Compton Junction, Walker, and Deerfield/Vernon County, and an ambulance was also on the scene. The Missouri State Fire Marshal was called to assist with the investigation, as the cause of the fire is still undetermined.
