Betty Sue Sheehy

Betty Sue Sheehy, age 97, of Independence, Mo., formerly of Nevada, Mo., passed away peacefully on April 15, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was born on Oct. 6, 1925, in Sprague, Mo., to Robert Hugh and Mary Elizabeth (Goodwin) Rutherford. She married Thomas Rex Sheehy in 1940 and worked as a surgical nurse at Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott for 33 years.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Rex Sheehy, and her sons, Connie Rex Sheehy and Ronnie Lee Sheehy.

Betty is survived by eight grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, at East Liberty Cemetery, Stotesbury, Mo., with Pastor Terry Mosher officiating.
