Janetta Lynn Caudill passed away in her home in Nevada, Mo., on May 10, 2023, with family at her bedside after a yearlong battle with lung cancer. Janetta was born on July 10, 1956, in Gravette, Ark., to Earllena J. (Wilfong) Coin. She was the third youngest of 13 children, and grew up in Craig, Mo., where she attended school.

Janetta married Charles D. Crump in 1972, and they spent a few years traveling with his job before settling down in Girard, Kan. They had three children and were divorced in 1983. Janetta was married to Dennis Caudill from 1986 to 1991. Janetta’s companion, James Everitt, preceded her in death in 2013 in Fort Scott, Kan.

Janetta spent her life caring for others, especially the elderly. She took in family members who needed care, as well as having worked in several senior care facilities over the years, with Joe Clark Residential being the most recent. Janetta loved to cook and would feed anyone a five-course meal if they asked, and even if they didn’t ask.

Janetta is survived by three children, Tonya Minick (Turk) of Neodesha, Kan., Hank Crump (Tina) of Parker, Colo., and Amy Calvert (Eric) of Nevada, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Colton, Hayley, Shiloh, Mason, Charleigh, Reagan, and Phoebe; four great-grandchildren, Stevie, Max, Willow, and Nolan; two brothers, Jimbo and Jess; and six sisters, Jane, Bill, Jo, Judy, Joetta, and Jenny.

In addition to her companion, Janetta was preceded in death by her mother; her brother, Jack; and three sisters, Margaret, Erma, and Emily.

The family would like to thank Eric Calvert, Karen Clark, and Beth Diehl, as well as Regional Hospice nurses, Tasha Triplett and Michaela Tindall, for the exceptional care and attention they provided to Janetta in recent months.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 16, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Chaplain Johnny Atkins officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.

Donations in Janetta’s memory may be made to the Joe Clark Residential Facility in Nevada, Mo.
