Patsy Ann (Campbell) Bland
Patsy Ann (Campbell) Bland, 84, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Moore-Few Care Center, in Nevada. Patsy was born Nov. 6, 1938, in Moundville, Mo., to Howard J. and Glady I. (Hall) Campbell. She was united in marriage to Gene E. “Skip” Bland on Sept. 7, 1958, in Bronaugh, Mo., and he preceded her in death in 1987.
Patsy was raised in Moundville. She attended school in Moundville and graduated from Bronaugh High School Class of 1956. Throughout her life she worked at various jobs including being an operator for a telephone company from 1960 until 1972 when dialing became available, Gibson’s in Nevada, Key Work Clothes in Nevada, Marlon’s Restaurant in Bronaugh as a Hostess, West Central In-Home Care, and Mercy Hospital Housekeeping in Fort Scott, Kan., from where she retired due to gradual loss of her eyesight. Patsy was a member of the Moundville Methodist Church where she was baptized at an early age. She loved to travel, and especially loved being with her family.
Survivors include four children, Sandra Edwards (Harvey), Beulah, Kan., Carol Maberry (Alan), Lamar, Mo., Charles Bland, Webb City, Mo., and Susan Garver (Earnie), Rockville, Mo.; three grandchildren, Josh Edwards (Marti), Ethan Mitts (Breanna), and Evan Mitts (Alisha); five stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren, Zane, Rowan, and Mason; 16 stepgreat-grandchildren; five stepgreat-great-grandchildren; sister, Alberta Hagenson, Nevada; sister-in-law, Dorothy Campbell, Pittsburg, Kan.; two stepbrothers, Don Spangler, and Mick Spangler; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Gene, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Louise Landers and Trixie Daugherty; four brothers, Gene Campbell, Cecil Campbell, John Campbell, and Baxter Campbell; and two stepbrothers, Jim Spangler and John Spangler.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 26, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with Ed Post officiating. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery in Fort Scott, Kan., at 12:30 p.m. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday morning prior to the service.
Memorials are suggested in her name to the Missouri Council of the Blind in care of Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada.
