Nevada Public Library Board meeting to be held Thursday

Wednesday, June 21, 2023

The Nevada Public Library Board of Directors is set to convene for its upcoming meeting on June 22, 2023, at 5:15 p.m.

One of the key items on the agenda is the election of Board officers for the 2023-2024 term.

The meeting will also begin with a record of the minutes from the previous session held on May 25, 2023. Following this, the Library Director will present their report, providing an update on the library's operations, programs, and initiatives.

A financial report for the month of May 2023 will be presented by R. Shumaker, a certified public accountant (CPA). This report will provide an overview of the library's financial status, including income, expenses, and any noteworthy financial developments.

The meeting will then proceed to address several items under unfinished business. The Board will review and potentially revise policies in accordance with MO Administrative Rule 15 CSR 30-200.015. This comprehensive policy review aims to ensure that the library's policies align with the most current regulations and best practices.

Among the policies up for discussion are the Collection Development Policy, Materials Challenge Policy, Procedure & Form, Collection & Services Policy, Circulation Policy, and the Registration policy/procedure for minor cards. The Board will also examine the display of materials in the library building and the meeting room policy for public groups. In addition, they will review the Public Library Certification of Compliance form.

Under new business, the Board will conduct the annual review of the lease agreement with the Bushwhacker Museum VCHS. This review will allow the Board to assess the terms of the lease and ensure it remains in the best interest of the library and its patrons.

The meeting will conclude with a reminder that the next session is scheduled for Thursday, July 27, at 5:15 p.m.
