Darrel Scott Claspill
Darrel Scott Claspill of Clinton, Mo., passed away peacefully at his home following a brief battle with cancer and Lambert Eaton Myasthenic Syndrome, a rare autoimmune disease, on May 31, 2023. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 7, at the Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton, Mo., with a memorial visitation from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Living Church of God and can be left in care of the funeral home.
Darrel was born to Roy Allen Claspill and Amanda Lucille (Davis) Claspill on Oct. 15, 1946, in Montevallo, Mo. Darrel worked for General Motors Leeds Plant in Lee’s Summit in the 1960’s, the Missouri Pacific Railroad from 1970-1988, and was the owner operator of DC's Convenience Store and Thunder Road Nascar Store with his wife Doris and children from 1992-2010. Darrel was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 101 of Nevada, Mo., for 50 years and a member of the Living Church of God in Kansas City, Mo.
Darrel enjoyed traveling, quail hunting, football, Professional Bull Riding, NASCAR, horse racing, and being with family. He was a classic car enthusiast and a successful entrepreneur and business owner. He loved helping and giving guidance to his family. Darrel brought many smiles to everyone that knew him with his wit and sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife Doris Claspill of the home; three daughters, Karen Claspill of Nevada, Mo., Tammy Stangeland and husband Billy Thompson of Nevada, Mo., and Regina Thomas and husband Chuck of Carthage, Mo.; two stepchildren, Kristy Liber and husband Doug of Smithville, Mo., and Jake Simmers of Clinton, Mo.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Sandy Foreman and husband Bill of Raymore, Mo., and Ron Claspill of Las Vegas, Nev. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers Lyle, Tom, and Carol; and granddaughter, Terah McKnight.
