Sheldon Old Settlers' Picnic has well-attended and successful year

The 119th Sheldon Old Settlers' Picnic kicked off on a high note, offering families a delightful evening of traditional amusement on Friday. The event featured the eagerly awaited Sheldon Rippers and Stitchers Quilt Show, which welcomed the public and reported an overwhelming turnout of quilts. Carnival rides delighted kids of all ages, while the Community Building showcased a range of exhibits for public viewing. The musical backdrop for the evening was provided by the Portia Corner Band, setting the stage for a joyful night of singing and dancing.

Saturday was a day and evening packed with events catering to all age groups. The morning began with the energetic Kids Races and Games, followed by Horseshoe Pitching that captured spectators' attention. The Baby Show brought smiles to many faces as attendees admired the adorable babies on stage. A refreshing break came in the form of the Watermelon Feed, offering chilled watermelon slices to beat the heat. Sports enthusiasts enjoyed the Men’s Slow Pitch Softball Tournament throughout the day, while younger attendees engaged in the Kids Pedal Tractor Pull.

The Car, Truck, and Motorcycle Show proved to be a major attraction, drawing significant attention. The renowned 119th Annual Sheldon Old Settlers’ Picnic Parade was a highlight of the day, charming everyone as it passed through. Attendees then turned their focus to the stage for the Royalty Coronation, which recognized community members for their contributions.

As the day transitioned into evening, attendees could choose between the Antique Tractor Pull and the lively music provided by the Honky Tonk Dream Band, hailing from Springfield, Mo.

The Picnic Board expressed its gratitude for the collective effort that contributed to the Picnic's success this year.
