The Vernon County Youth Fair Board convened for their monthly meeting on Wednesday evening, Oct. 25, led by President Dennis Bowling. During the meeting, significant discussions and updates on various matters took place.

To begin the meeting, Secretary Ben Walker presented the minutes from last month's gathering, which were subsequently approved by the board. In the absence of Treasurer Nathan Forkner, Vice President Justin Ogle provided the treasurer's report. Ogle disclosed that the board's gross total assets currently stand at $176,000, inclusive of memorial contributions received. Additionally, Ogle mentioned that there were pending checks to be issued, a matter which the board also approved.

Under the category of old business, the board deliberated the High School Rodeo, scheduled to take place at the fairgrounds this weekend, Oct. 27-28. Bowling expressed the board's readiness for the event, though he emphasized the possibility of Walker requiring additional assistance in the concession stand. Vernon County University of Missouri Specialist Thabena Bower reminded the board that a small wedding reception is planned in the new Centennial Building on the fairgrounds for Friday night, Oct. 27. The board reached a consensus to approve the reception, provided it does not impede access to the rodeo areas.

Transitioning to new business, attendee Sheridan Pritchett sought information about the profit generated from the 4-H BBQ, which occurred on Saturday evening, Oct. 7. Bower, in her response, noted that the financial details were yet to be finalized. She assured that a comprehensive report on the matter would be presented on Recognition Night, scheduled for Saturday evening, Nov. 18. The board accepted Bower's report and proceeded to adjourn the meeting. The next meeting is slated for Dec. 6.
