Eunice Louise Kennedy

Eunice Louise Kennedy, 98, of Overland Park, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023 in Kansas City, MO. Eunice was born on February 27, 1925 in Pleasant View, MO (Cedar County) to John and Lucinda (Harvey) Robertson. She was married to Kenneth Ray Kennedy in September of 1950 and he preceded her in death in 1988.

Eunice was raised in Rich Hill and El Dorado Springs and graduated as class valedictorian from El Dorado Springs High School. Following high school, Eunice worked in Kansas City, KS inspecting Pratt & Whitney aircraft engines during WWII. She later worked for Hallmark Cards and Cowie Electric in Kansas City, MO.

Eunice took care of family, including extended family. Besides ensuring each of her children received a college education, she continued her own learning with community college and other classes, relearned to drive at age 65, and advocated for girls’/women’s education. She enjoyed traveling, planning the many family summer vacations, and later accompanying her adult children on trips around the country and abroad.

Survivors include her son, Paul Kennedy (Beth Humphrey) of Lenexa, KS, two daughters, Deborah Kennedy of Overland Park, KS and Christina Kennedy (Greg Zaparyniuk) of Molalla, OR, one niece and several nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, and two brothers, Wayne Robertson and Gene Robertson.

Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Newton Burial Park, Nevada, MO.
