Joseph Paul Nunez

Joseph Paul Nunez, 65, Kansas City, MO, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City. Paul was born July 29, 1958 in Nevada, MO, the eleventh of eleven children born to Frank Vincente and Mary Ellen (Little) Nunez. He married Dana Kim Segur on July 20, 1996 at Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village, KS, and she survives of the home.

 

     Paul was raised in Milo and Nevada. He graduated from Nevada High School in 1976, where he was active in the National Honor Society, football, and ROTC. Following high school, he attended SMSU and the University of Missouri graduating with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and later received his master’s in psychology and counseling. Paul worked for two years at De La Salle Education Center as a counselor for underprivileged youth, then worked at Rockhurst University in the Helzberg School of Management from 1985-2020 as the Director of Undergraduate Advising, retiring in 2020.

 

     Paul believed in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and lived his life true to his high principles and integrity.  He was beloved by his wife, family, and the many students he impacted.

 

     In addition to his wife Dana, survivors include one sister, Martha Tipling, Wheatland, MO; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Francis Nunez, Robert Nunez, Donald Lee Nunez, and James Nunez, five sisters, Angelina Geary, Mary Lou Gillespie, Margreat Bolser, Norma Dayringer, and Teresa Huss; one niece and four nephews.

 

    Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Father Peter Savidge and Pastor Terry Mosher officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Nevada. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
