Donald Frank Gundy

Donald Frank Gundy, age 85, currently residing in Colorado Springs, Colorado,  formerly of Goodyear, Arizona, Jefferson City, Missouri, Lexington, Missouri, Stockton, Missouri, and Walker, Missouri, passed away peacefully on the one day of the year he hated most… April 15th…Tax Day! (Note to the IRS: He’ll be filing late again this year.)

     Don began preaching at the age of 19. He was a graduate of Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Missouri, William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri, and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. He pastored at Harwood Baptist Church in Harwood, Missouri, Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Princeton, Missouri, Stockton Southern Baptist Mission Church, associate pastor at Spring Valley Baptist Church, in Raytown, Missouri, Lexington First Baptist Church, and the associate pastor at First Baptist Church of Jefferson City.     

     Don spent the last several years in Jefferson City as the Director of Church Minister Relations for the Missouri Baptist Convention.

Don traveled extensively sharing the gospel and training others to preach the Word. Belarus, Taiwan and Tanzania were just some of the countries he visited.

     Don grew up on a farm in Walker, Missouri, with no running water or inside toilet. He married Janet Wallace in 1961, and she survives. Don and Janet had two boys, Gary and Frank.

     Immediate family includes Gary and wife Amy (Hessler) of Columbia, Missouri, and Frank and wife Janet (Eastlund) of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Grandchildren are Connor, Heidi, Morgan, Jenna (Chase), and great granddaughter, Jovie. Don’s only sibling, Doug Gundy and wife Ellen, reside in Bixby, Oklahoma.  Sister-in-law Carol Brubeck (Wallace) of Mexico, Missouri.
