LeRoy H. Visser, 81, Milo, died Monday, May 31, 2005, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada, following a short illness.

He was born Aug. 14, 1923, in Riley, Kan., to Willian Edward Visser and Martha Sylvester Visser. He married Evelyn E. Wade on May 4, 1952, in Manhattan, Kan., and she preceded him in death.

He was born and reared on his parents' farm in Riley, Kan., and graduated from Riley County High School in 1941. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following his marriage, he lived and farmed near Warrensburg, Mo., before buying a farm near Milo, in 1954. He farmed, carried mail, and worked at the Nevada State Hospital. He was a member of the Church of The Nazarene in Nevada. He began a career with the U.S. Government in 1963 in Kansas City, Mo. He retired from the General Service Administration after serving as superintendent of federal buildings in Kansas City, Manhattan, Kan., and Davenport, Iowa, in 1990 at which time he returned to the farm in the Milo area.

Survivors include three sons, Wade Visser, Milo, Bruce Visser, Atkins, Iowa, and Keith Visser, Independence, Mo.; two daughters, Eileen Duncan, Cunningham, Tenn., and Ruth Ann McAlister, Shawnee, Kan.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; three brothers, Albion Visser, Sidney, Neb., Eugene Visser, Goff, Kan., and Virgil Visser, Wakefield, Kan.; and one sister, Evelyn Smith, Great Bend, Kan. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and his wife.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Friday, June 3, at the Church of The Nazarene, with Mike Satterlee officiating. Interment will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery, Milo. The family receives friends 7-8 p.m. on Thursday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, and friends may call now and until noon on Friday at the funeral home.
