John Paul Rooney

John Paul Rooney, 37, of Marionville, formerly of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 8:30 a.m., on Monday, Feb. 22, 2010. He was born on Jan. 29, 1973, in Clinton, Mo., the son of Patricia B. Rooney. John was a 1992 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and had previously worked for Hoods as a fuel attendant. On Oct. 22, 2004, he married Tammy Sue Lemons in Miami, Okla.

Those surviving him include; his wife, Tammy, of the home; his mother, Pat Rooney, of Mt. Vernon; mother-in-law, Linda Lemons, of Crane; two brothers-in-law, James and Stephen Lemons, also of Crane; sister-in-law, Donna Ash and her husband, Greg, of Purdy; two uncles, William Rooney and his wife, Maria, of Leewood, Kan., John Robert Rooney and his wife, Mary Ann, of Rociada, New Mexico; one aunt, Connie Denning and her husband, Deverne, of Nevada; and stepgrandmother, Virginia Rooney. of Verona. His grandparents, Fred and Bernice Rooney. preceded him in death.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., on Thursday, Feb. 25, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, located at, 510 E. Cherry St., Mt. Vernon, Mo. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 26, at the Mt. Vernon City Cemetery, the end of McCanse St. Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society or the Emmanuel Tails Animal Shelter in care of the funeral home.
