Robert Franklin Culp, 68, Nevada, passed away on Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at Research Hospital, Kansas City, Mo., following an illness of several months. He was born March 20, 1942, in Fort Scott, Kan., to William Bryan Culp and Viola Z. Farris Culp.

Robert was born and raised in Fort Scott, Kan., and attended Fort Scott High School. He moved to New Jersey at the age of 15 and resided there until 2009. He served in the U.S. Army for two years in Washington, D.C. He worked as a registered respiratory therapist for the Veterans Administration Hospital, and became director of respiratory therapy for the Veterans Administration Hospitals in the southern New York and New Jersey area. After his retirement in 2009, he moved to Nevada and lived the remainder of his life here.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Culp, Bronaugh, Mo., and Patricia Alcorn, the state of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; six brothers; and his companion of 35 years, Paul Grigas, in 2010.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 25, at National Cemetery, Fort Scott, with the Rev. Brent Bland officiating.
