In a match at El Dorado Springs on Tuesday, Nevada Middle School's seventh grade volleyball team won the day, taking the win in both matches. In the B match, Nevada took the win in two games with scores of 25-14 and 25-23 In the A match, Nevada lost the first game against El Dorado Springs 17-25, but came back to win the next two with scores of 25-22 and 25-14, earning a victory in that match as well...

Arthur Earl "Bill" Christie was born Dec. 9, 1918, in Effingham, Kan., to Arthur and Mary Ellen (Stallsworth) Christie and passed away on, Sept. 10, 2007, at Cedar County Memorial Hospital in El Dorado Springs, Mo. In 1941, Arthur was in the U.S. Navy as a Second Class Petty Officer, with the gunnery unit. He fought in Pearl Harbor while on a destroyer ship. City looks over cost of proposed community center

When Nevada voters approved renewing the city's 1/2-cent parks and recreation sales tax in 2005 for nine years, it was thought that it would bring in enough money over its life to complete all of the proposed projects. A visitor in my office recently made a statement that you cannot do things like you did 10 years ago. He included farming in this that farmers cannot do things like they did 10 years ago. I commented to another visitor about what the previous visitor said. He added it is not the same as it was 6 years ago...
