Loren Glenn Rinehart, 77, of Joplin, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at 4:35 a.m., after a 14 month battle with cancer. Loren was born April 14, 1931, in Lamar, Mo., son of the late Joe H. Vernon County voters defeated the proposed five cent per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation tax for senior citizen services 59.4 percent to 40.6 percent, 2,032 to 1,389. National Night Out

Hundreds turned out for National Night Out, sponsored by the city of Nevada, KCP&L and the Nevada/Vernon County Area Chamber of Commerce, to take advantage of a free evening at the pool. Outside the pool area, few paused to collect information and giveaways from area law enforcement agencies and others, but KCP&L's free hot dogs and drinks were popular.
