Aug. 26 An accident occurred at 1:12 p.m., in West and Cherry, involving a car driven by Misty D. Brundridge, of Nevada, and the Wellness Center Building at 300 W. Cherry. No injuries were reported. There was a report of an animal bite on the 800 block of south Ash, made by Carol Roberts, of Nevada. She reported being bitten by a kitten. The kitten has not been located...

Kitchen fire causes little damage to Nevada home

Nevada firefighters quickly responded to and extinguished a small stovetop fire at a home at 1120 N. Adams, Nevada, at about 7:30 last night. Nevada Fire Chief Bob Benn said that firefighters arriving on the scene quickly identified the source of the smoke visible from outside, spotting the flames reaching for the cabinets from the stove. 1978 PEO coloring book makes a lasting mark on the area

Inspiration can come from anywhere; and in 1978, the inspiration for a coloring book distributed as a fundraiser for the PEO Chapter KK in Nevada came from all around them. Beverly Denman, Nevada, said that her mother had suggested that Kansas City had a coloring book around that same time, so why couldn't Nevada? The book was popular by all accounts, and included 27 pages of local structures and sights to be colored. ...

In case some of my readers have not noticed, I am very proud of Nevada. I often write about, brag about, and make occasions to talk about all the good things that I see in our hometown. I also feel the same way about our whole county especially the part around Ellis! You've read about my being identified by Elderhostel attendees as being from the town where Cottey College is located. All the PEO members nationwide know about Cottey and are proud of it...
