Quincy Ray Cross, 78, Sheldon, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, at his home near Sheldon, following an illness of several months. He was born Oct. 23, 1930, in Bellamy, Mo., to Thomas Ray Cross and Edith Maxwell Cross. He married Margaret Ann Shannon on Sept. 21, 1962, in Springfield, Mo., and she preceded him in death on Feb. 18, 2006...

On Monday, Aug. 3, Nevada resident Alan Hoover completed the feat that most golfers can only dream of -- a hole-in-one. Hoover was playing a round of golf on the Frank E. Peters Municipal Golf Course in Nevada with John Carmichael, Ron Berryhill and Larry Testman when he came to the tee on the 11th hole.
