The Missouri State Highway Patrol joins the National Crime Prevention Council in observing October 2011 as National Crime Prevention Month. "It is always smart to keep safety in mind, no matter where you are," the patrol said in a press release. Law enforcement, MADD team up at sobriety checkpoint

On Saturday, the Nevada Police Department, and Vernon County Sheriff's Office, along with members of Mothers Against Drunk Driving conducted a sobriety checkpoint on U.S. 54 Highway on the west edge of Nevada. Kelly Wingert installs a child safety seat for newborn Talitha Kennard while her proud new parents Dana and Tonya watch and listen on Friday, Sept. 23. Kennard said he and his wife made the appointment to have the seat put in by firefighters "so they could get it properly installed."
