Claude Everette Barnes, 90, Nevada, Mo., passed from this life on Thursday, April 9, 2015, at Moore-Few Care Center, in Nevada, following a brief illness. Claude was born on Aug. 4, 1924, in Irwin, Mo., to Virgil Barnes and Alice (Little) Barnes. He was united in marriage to Opal I. Jones in January of 1942 and to this union their two daughters were born. Opal preceded him in death in 1973. In November of 1979 Claude married Yvonne Midge Janes and she also preceded him in death in 2012...

During both of the World Wars of the last century, everyday Americans were asked to raise gardens to help the war effort. These became known as "Victory Gardens." The world is in another war now, and I think one of our greatest weapons just might be a return of these same types of home grown plots...
