Retired former Nevada Fire Department Captain, Ernest Hugh Sitz, 75, of Nevada, Mo., passed away Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, at the Moore-Few Care Center, in Nevada. He served the Nevada and surrounding area as a firefighter for 34 years until his retirement in 1996. ...

Donald Wayne Daggett Sr., 52, of Nevada, Mo., passed from this life on Jan. 14, 2016, at his home. He was born Sept. 8, 1963, in Nevada, the son of Floyd and Mildred Daggett, both of whom have preceded him in death. Richard Michael Schultz, 48, Nevada, Mo., passed from this life on Jan. 15, 2016, at his home in Nevada. Richard was born on Feb. 28, 1967, in Orleans, France, to Stephen R. and Helga A. Schultz. Richard came to Nevada from Joplin, Mo., in 1973. He attended school in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School with the Class of 1985. ...

The budget process is always a challenge because we have to try and estimate what something will cost over the next year. On some items this is very easy, such as contracts with other vendors, medical, and software maintenance and upgrades because we can negotiate with vendors, and in the end have a set price for the year...

Missouri quail season ends Friday and its that time of the year when the outdoor calendar gets slim.
