In their season-opening competition, the Nevada High School wrestling team placed 11th at the 25-school Steve Leslie Invitational — held Friday and Saturday in Pleasant Hill. Lyndon Gregg Rice, 58, formerly of Nevada, Mo., passed away at his home in McQueeney, Texas, on Dec. 6, 2019, following a short fight with cancer. Gregg was born Jan. 17, 1961, to Lonnie Rice and Jimmie Doris (Hunter) Rice in Canyon, Texas. Gregg and his family moved from the panhandle of Texas in March of 1963 to help on his grandfather Hunter’s ranch in Vernon County.
