The Bronaugh High School volleyball team picked up its first win of the season Thursday night at Sheldon, earning a hard-fought 25-23, 25-22, 25-22 sweep. "We finally played as a team from start to finish tonight and all the pieces fell into place," BHS head coach Whitney Hinkle stated. "They were talking it up and trusting each other, which has been a goal of mine since day one. It felt so good to finally see them playing hard and with confidence."...

Both Nevada Middle School football teams improved to 2-0 following impressive home debuts against McDonald County Thursday at Logan Field — with the seventh-grade squad dominating 34-6 and the eighth-graders winning 26-14. In the first game, Will Jackson, Elijah Edmunds, John Michael Collins, and Kyndrek Atkins all scored rushing touchdowns for the seventh-grade Tigers, while the defense held the Mustangs out of the end zone until late in the game...

Gilbert Gene Harris, 92, of Nevada, Mo., passed away on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2021, at Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan. Gilbert was born on June 4, 1929, in Chattanooga, Okla., to Edrick and Ethel (Hardesty) Harris. He married Rhoda C. Wilkinson on Sept. 20, 1954, in Carlsbad, N.M., and she preceded him in death on Dec. 11, 2016...

Betty Lou Emery, 88, Deerfield, Mo., passed away on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2021, at her home, following a lengthy illness. Betty was born to Richard “Dick” E. and Susie (Shuhart) Saathoff on May 19, 1933, in Nevada, Mo. Betty graduated from Nevada High School with the Class of 1951. ...

Larry Ross Brasher was born on Aug. 16,1944, near Jerico Springs, Mo., to Guy and Grace (Beydler) Brasher. He was the third of six children. Larry attended school at Jerico Springs and graduated from Sheldon High School.
