The Nevada Middle School wrestling team had another strong performance s they squared off against Webb City and Adrian Monday evening. The Spring City Revitalization Group, a citizens' effort to raise awareness and funds for the revitalization of El Dorado Springs, recently closed on another property in the downtown area. According to a letter recently sent to the Daily Mail, the group purchased the building at 112 West Broadway, formerly known as the Mohave Apartment Building. It is the property next to 106 West Broadway that was purchased by SCRG earlier this year...

The Nevada Tigers and Lady Tigers basketball teams came home for the first time on a cold, icy Tuesday evening against Carl Junction. The Lady Bulldogs were out for revenge after Nevada went to their home court and defeated them by a final score of 50-21 just last week. Revenge is exactly what Carl Junction would get as Nevada ultimately fell in the game by a final score of 51-42...

The Cottey College Comets are on a two-game winning streak after defeating Rhema Bible College in Tulsa, Okla., Thursday night by the score of 58-46. This was the second win over Rhema this season for the Comets. It was a low-scoring first half as the Comets led 25-17 at the break. ...

The Hume Hornets boys' and girls' basketball teams each picked up a win over the Panthers of Sheldon on Dec. 4. For the boys, four players broke into double figures in scoring, led by Ryan Austin with 17 points, followed closely by Cameron Hinton with 15. Former Nevada High School wrestler Spenser Daniels placed second in the Missouri University NCAA Division 1 Open on Nov. 23, wrestling in the Freshman/Sophomore 197-pound Division. Daniels lost in the finals to Niko Brown (pictured), a sophomore at Tennessee-Chattanooga University in a 6-4 decision.
