Kansas Board of Regents receives tuition proposals

The Kansas Board of Regents received tuition proposals from the six state universities today. The proposals ranged from the University of Kansas request for an 8.2 percent to a low of 4.1 percent for Fort Hays State University. If approved by the Regents in their June meeting, that means an undergraduate resident student at Pittsburg State University -- who proposed the second lowest increase at 5.6 percent -- will pay an additional $108 a semester beginning in the fall...

A family treasure that has been passed around from cousin to cousin in my family for several decades is a journal written in 1936 by my great-great-great aunt Sophie Alice Nickels. As a married adult woman she came by wagon train with several of her family from Indiana to settle in Missouri. Alice died March 17, 1937. Her niece was my grandmother.
